QORT digest for the third quarter of 2019

31 october 2019

Q3, 2019

Dear users of ARQA Technologies software products, we offer to your attention the digest of the main features introduced in solutions based on the QORT software platform in the third quarter of 2019.

New Module of integration with DataScope Select

For the expansion of the functionality to upload data to the back-office backQORT, the Module of integration with DataScope Select was released.

The module allows automatic import to the system and scheduled update of reference data on assets, issuers, corporate events from the DataScope Select database by Refinitiv. Besides that, as part of the integration it is possible to receive market data on traded assets at the end of the trading day. A separate contract for data acquisition must be concluded with Refinitiv.

Bank of Russia Requirements for Broker Securities Transactions at Clients’ Expense in ARQA Technologies’ Products

On 1 July 2019, the requirements of Bank of Russia Ordinance № 4928-U, dated 8 October 2018, became effective and were supported in QORT products.

In the middle-office midQORT and back-office backQORT, the improvements were made which allow calculating ‘RCV1’ and ‘RCV2’ client’s margin indicators (with the exception of derivative financial instruments accounting in the general portfolio).

The ‘RCV1’ and ‘RCV2’ indicators for portfolios are calculated in real time both on the risk manager’s Workstation and the QORT server. When the indicators’ values cross the zero level, margin calls are generated.

Accordingly, the list of parameters was expanded which can be specified in electronic messages sent to the client or risk manager after margin calls appeared.

During ‘RCV1’ and ‘RCV2’ calculation, their values are recorded on operations accounted in QORT. It is possible to recalculate indicators after processing day data and record intraday values at preset time (for example, when closing trading).

See detailed information about these innovations in the Risk Control subsection below.

Improvements in Additional QORT Modules

External reports request module

New Functionality

Solution

When generating reports with the help of external applications, more parameters now can be chosen in the dropdown dialogue lists (from tables: ‘Sub-accounts and analytic accounts’, ‘Ordinary and synthetic accounts’, ‘Documents’, ‘Assets’, ‘Business partners groups’) including the data backQORT lacks. For example, it is possible to specify certain types of files suitable for the external application to generate reports.

backQORT

There is an option to specify several values of one parameter when generating reports in the external application. For example, to choose several clients from the list for building one summary report.

backQORT

When adding external reports to the system, it has become possible to create dropdown lists in the dialogues for report generation based on the SQL request to the QORT database. Besides that, it is possible to set interconnected dropdown lists. For example, when specifying a subaccount, the user first specifies the client and then chooses one of the client’s subaccounts. These two options can also be used simultaneously.

backQORT

Module of integration with RU DATA

backQORT

The ‘Register of client instructions’ now contains the date and time of their cancelling/execution.

backQORT

To discover by key phrases the operations which contradict regulatory and current legislation requirements, the system automatically sends to authorized specialists a notification about a suspicious operation if the comment on the non-trade instruction contains a specified key phrase. Previously, this functionality was available only in case of exact match of the comment and the key phrase.

backQORT

If the non-trade instruction performs a technical function (for example, internal transfer, unexecuted order or order by a technical subaccount), it is possible not to send SMS notifications for such an instruction.

backQORT

When generating the ‘Registry of debts for client instructions’ report, there is a possibility to select instructions with a specified status (for example, the ‘Removed by user’ status).

backQORT

For trades different from REPO, the ‘REPO rate’, ‘REPO execution date’ fields may be left empty in the Register of instructions.

backQORT

Monitoring Business Partners

New Functionality

Solution

The internal risk level now can be specified not only for physical persons but also for legal entities.

backQORT

backQORT

With a new trading day, if the client documents contain data different from the data in the broker service agreement, notifications may be sent to clients about the necessity to update personal details. Besides that, such notifications may be automatically sent every six months for clients with a high risk level and once a year for clients with a normal risk level.

backQORT

When controlling business partners by the requirements of Federal Financial Monitoring Service, the following options were added:

  • if no information about the business partner is found in the database of invalid passports after its recheck, business partner account restrictions are removed automatically,
  • during reconciliation with the invalid passports database a mechanism is available which on the passport expiry day allows automatic sending notifications to clients about the necessity to submit a new document, and adding such clients to a special group of business partners. If after 30 days the client does not submit details of the new passport, their subaccounts are blocked with the client’s further transfer to another partners group,
  • there is support of reconciliation with the Taxpayer Identification Number,
  • it has become possible to set the check both by partial match of names and their full match.

backQORT

During reconciliations with the list of persons involved in the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and with the list of persons subject to the Commission decision to freeze the property, the data may be imported to the system in *.xml files or via the IDB. During reconciliation with the list of persons involved in extremist activities, the data may be uploaded to the system using *.xml files.

backQORT

Reconciliation

New Functionality

Solution

Middle-office capQORT — Solution for Asset Management Companies

The main improvements in the capQORT system in the 3rd quarter of 2019:

Security

New Functionality

The mechanisms were added for encryption of terminal system files.

System Usability

New Functionality

After a mouse cursor is placed on the table or dialogue field, a tooltip pops up with full information of this field.

For new trading venue sections the main features can be set via the QORT terminal: to create or not to create settlement stages in accordance with planned dates or trade execution dates, to take or not to take account of the current day trades in limits and liabilities of future periods. Previously, these options were available only in *.ini files.

It is possible to make a text comment on a trade when submitting the trade via the terminal.

The trade parameters combined in groups of the ‘Multi purpose’ type now can be edited. This kind of grouping may be needed to simplify filtering, sorting by group number in the trade table, and transfer data to external systems. Aggregation/netting of calculations for trades of such groups is not available.

It has become possible to forward orders at the market price. Besides that, it is possible to forbid forwarding orders with the volume which exceeds the specified percentage of a day average turnover in the trading venue section over last 30 days.

Position Keeping

New Functionality

During evaluation of available cash, it has become possible to take account of assets in one day bonds without account of assets required for payment of the second part of reverse REPO trades.

Integrations

New Functionality

When importing data on assets from QUIK, an option is added to check availability of this asset in the system by ISIN first and then by state registration code (previously, only by short name).

Pool REPO orders can be uploaded to the system via the IDB with generation of elementary orders based on the pool ones.

For ‘Assets’ and ‘Business partners’ directories, there is a mechanism which allows marking some records so that they are not changed when downloading data from Cbonds, RU DATA or QUIK. Such a feature can be uploaded to the system via the IDB.

The ‘Manually entered price’ field can be filled in with data imported via the IDB.

The ‘List of limits’ report can be exported via the IDB. This allows uploading to external systems the limit statuses with numeric characteristics for each individual subaccount. This functionality may also be used for autotesting of the limit setting.

Commissions

New Functionality

A commission type was added for opening/closing auction trades.

Limit Setting and Control

New Functionality

If the instruments for limit control are selected by applying logical expressions of the CFI code structure, the regular expression is automatically checked for errors. In case of error detection, the system notifies the user.

The system is able to control limit violations not only for the current or planned position but also for all intermediate dates. This allows, for example, tracing increase in available cash on specified dates to place it in short-term instruments.

‘Zero’ asset prices can be specified in the ‘Portfolio quotes’ table. In this case, the system does not take such a price for an error during the order’s pre-trade control. This is possible, for example, when seizure of a security needs to be indicated.

Reports

New Functionality

The position change report now can be generated for several assets simultaneously.

Portfolio Organizer

New Functionality

Parameters both for current and planned positions are now shown in the portfolio organizer.

Pool Orders

New Functionality

When viewing elementary orders based on the pool one, it is possible to exclude orders with zero asset volume, select several table lines, and also delete some lines. After deleting the lines, asset volume in left lines is not recalculated.

For pool REPO orders, indication of order volume was added. Besides that, the logic was implemented for automatic filling in fields (price, volume, discount) depending on figures stated in other fields.

When generating a pool order, it is possible not to specify the order direction (to buy/to sell) by default.

Portfolio Rebalancing Mechanism

New Functionality

When using the portfolio rebalancing mechanism, the settlement currency is automatically filled in according to the value in the trading venue section. If the settlement currency is not specified in the section, the value of the instrument price currency is specified as the settlement one.

Any chosen portfolio now can be rebalanced. Previously, rebalancing could be applied only to portfolios marked as ‘model’ or ‘benchmark’.

For the portfolio rebalancing mechanism, it has become possible to choose only those portfolios where the cash share exceeds a specified value. This functionality may be applied to automatic selection of new portfolios or portfolios with additionally deposited cash with further order generation by means of this mechanism.

The users with extended rights acquired an option to generate orders for portfolio rebalancing even in case of limit violations.

When using the portfolio rebalancing mechanism, there is a possibility to specify prices of orders to sell and buy assets before generation of instructions. Previously, the system placed the price automatically. To edit the price, it was necessary to manually select all portfolios with the specified asset.
